Brazil National Team Has Surprising Omissions

Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari has named his 23 man squad for the World Cup 2014 and it already features a number of surprising omissions. Former World Cup winner Kaka has not been included in the squad, as the former Chelsea manager has gone for current form rather than experience or youth. Further, Scolari has a lot of options in the attacking midfield area, which deemed Kaka surplus to requirements. Ronaldinho, who was also not expected to feature in the squad, also appears to have played his last match.

OSCAR THE UNTOUCHABLE

Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has failed his compatriot Oscar, who is widely seen as the player who will become his replacement in the attacking midfielder role, performing excellently for the club this campaign.

The Brazilian midfielder came to Chelsea for £ 25 million and has been one of the success stories of the blues. Despite being very young, he has been able to take on the pressure of playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world and produced big performances. He was instrumental in Chelsea’s Europa league success last season.

BRAZIL BACK FERNANDINHO

Brazil’s national team manager Luis Felipe Scolari said that the performance of Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho impressed him a lot.

The 30-year-old has been in the wilderness with regard to the Brazil national team. It has largely been because he has been playing in the Ukrainian league for several years. However, he has returned to the high-profile English Premier league with Manchester City in the summer. He was signed for £ 30 million by the Premier league outfit, who have been using him consistently as the defensive partner for Yaya Touré.

SCOLARI OPTIMISTIC

The man who is responsible on deciding which players will be representing Brazil for the 2014 World Cup as well as selecting which formation would be better depending on the teams they have to face, Felipe Scolari is optimistic that his team will take home the World Cup title.

"We are playing at home, we have the fans on our side and a team which is competitive and has a lot of quality. We have everything that allows us to be the best team. That's why I fully trust that we can make it to the final and be the champion." Scolari said.

KAKA FUTURE UNSURE

The future of Brazilian midfielder Kaka in the national team squad has been speculated a lot due to the age and injury concerns of the midfielder.

However, it seems that manager Luiz Felipe Scolari is more concerned about his form rather than other attributes. He was recently present at the San Siro in order to witness Kaka playing in the Milan derby. AC Milan have been very poor this season and it was not surprising that they did not get a positive result in a match. They lost 1-0 and they have slipped further lower in the table.

SCOLARI WANTS PREM RETURN

Former Chelsea manager Luiz Felipe Scolari has revealed that he may one day want to come back to the Premier league and even with Chelsea if the opportunity comes about.

Scolari is currently the manager of Brazil, which is one of the prestigious jobs in the world. Brazil have automatically qualified for the upcoming World Cup 2014 as the hosts of the tournament. Scolari will have a lot of pressure on his hands in order to deliver the trophy, which he has also won with Brazil in 2002.

UNIQUE SITUATION

Brazil have a unique situation whereby they have a lot of quality outfield players, but the goalkeeping situation is quite alarming.

National team manager Luiz Felipe Scolari has only a couple of goalkeepers to choose from ahead of the World Cup 2014. One of them is QPR goalkeeper Julio Cesar, who used to play for Inter Milan a few seasons ago. It was not long ago that he won the best goalkeeper in the world award, but he has not been in the best of shape in recent times.

Betting tips on the Premier League

The 2013/14 Premier League season is one of the hardest to predict of recent times, making for some good betting odds. Man United would usually start as favourites but with Alex Ferguson’s departure, it seems like Chelsea, Man City and Arsenal have all sensed the opportunity for a long term power shift.

CONFEDERATIONS CUP SUCCESS

After taking over from Mano Menezes only a few months ago, Luiz Felipe Scolari managed to get the Brazilian national team to Confederations cup success.

After the tournament, there has been several talk about the future squads. Many have already started predicting the squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, which will be held in Brazil. Since the Confederations cup was the last tournament to have competitive matches for Brazil before the World Cup, many are predicting that Scolari will not be making huge changes to the squad.

IS PAULINHO A GOOD BUY?

Recent near misses in the race for Champions League qualification may see Tottenham make a few big moves in the transfer market in order to try and get there this coming season.

Already, they have splashed out £17m on Brazilian holding midfielder Paulinho, who joins from Corinthians.
