Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho has finalised an agreement to join Spanish giants Barcelona this summer, according to Radio Catalonia reporter Gerard Romero.

The Brazil international has been constantly linked with a switch to Camp Nou, and Romero insists that the player has made his mind up to join the Catalan giants in the transfer window.

Barcelona are currently in a tight situation over the future of Neymar, who is eyeing a move to Paris Saint-Germain, but a deal for Coutinho could change things altogether. Neymar has a fond relationship with Brazilian teammate Coutinho, and he has previously admitted that he would like to play alongside the Reds playmaker in Catalunya.

Romero has now released a series of tweets where he suggests that a deal is in place for Coutinho to join Barcelona, and there remains for the clubs to finalise a transfer fee in the coming days. Ernesto Valverde's side have already had an offer worth £72m turned down, but they are expected to come up with a fresh bid of around £80m which could be sufficient to do business.

“CLOSED AGREEMENT with COUTINHO. The FCB has everything tied up with the footballer. The club negotiates with Liverpool the transfer. Liverpool is NOT the PSG, ready to negotiate the transfer by the Brazilian. MSN [Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar] looks favourably on [Coutinho’s] arrival,” Romero wrote.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has repeatedly stated that Coutinho would not be sold in the summer transfer window, but he could be without powers to control the player's sale with the Brazilian himself eager to switch clubs this summer. Coutinho managed 13 goals and seven assists for the Merseyside outfit last term as they secured their return to Champions League football via a fourth-finish in the standings on the final day of the Premier League season.
